What is Bible Bowl Bible Bowl is a national Bible quizzing program for youth in grades 6-12. The National Bible Bowl office and Board of Directors in Cincinnati, Ohio, administer Bible Bowl nationally to more than 1500 young people. It has been in existence for 41 years and has seen God’s hand of provision and direction throughout those years. Bible Bowl is a ministry designed to promote spiritual growth, fellowship, knowledge of God’s Word, and a Christian attitude within a competitive atmosphere. It is a Bible quizzing program similar to Quick Recall. The National Board of Directors selects the text each year; therefore, players across the nation are studying the same book. Bible Bowl is a game between two teams (two to four players each) being quizzed over the text. The quizmaster reads the questions and awards points to the team who buzzes with the correct answer first. The team then answers questions to earn bonus points. In order to reap the benefits of Bible Bowl, players need to commit at least 15 minutes a day to study. Players must study at home before coming to practice each week. If you commit yourself to learning God’s Word, this is an awesome program. When is Bible Bowl? The Bible Bowl year begins in late August and ends with the National Bible Bowl Tournament in late June or early July. Competition We travel the first Saturday of each month to Harvester Christian Church for a Round Robin, October through May. We leave at 7:30 a.m. and return home around 4:00 p.m. College Tournaments Team members that excel will also have the opportunity to participate in several college tournaments, most held in June. We may attend tournaments held at Kentucky Christian University, Milligan College, Cincinnati Christian University, and Ozark Christian College. These colleges and many others offer scholarship money to top teams and players. National Bible Bowl Tournament The year ends with the National Bible Bowl Tournament. It will be held in Atlanta, GA in 2008. There are typically around 150 teams at Nationals. All players may or may not attend. Players will be notified as the tournament date approaches whether they will participate. Attendance Practices and competitions should be a priority. Practices and home study are a crucial part of learning God’s Word and becoming a better Bible Bowl player. Each team member has a role on his team and when someone is missing it affects the whole team. While some conflicts are understandable, please give Bible Bowl the highest priority possible.
